Click HERE for motor curves for 300, 440, 835, 2800, 3500 & 5478 motor systems! 27 Oct 2002 HARA's Rocket City Blast Off started out a little soggy yesterday but today was beautiful weather with some great Hypertek launches. See the Launch Data page. 1 Oct 2002 Check out Nadine's pictures of Chuck Pierce's Rapier taking of at LDRS on the Hypertek L610! 19 Sep 2002 Pictures of John Storey's launches at MC2 now posted in 'Launch Data" section! 14 Sep 2002 John Storey sets new altitude record at MC2 Launch Manchester, TN with his Corporal Punishment rocket! 7 Sep 2002 Posted NEW Hypertek Motor Specification Sheet that give dimensions, weight and thrust of both the old and new style motor systems! 1 Sep 2002 Kent Burnett launched his Talon6 (he scratch built) on a Hypertek M1000 at Argonia Kansas this weekend and reached an altitude of 11,832'! 28 Jul 2002 The new RG L and RG M injector bells are a challange to properly seat the fill stem into the kline valve. Before you insert the fill stem you may want to make a mark 16 7/8" from the tip of the fill stem for the L motor system and 19 3/8 for the M motor system. When you have it properly seated this mark will be even with the bottom of the fuel grain. The new drop fill stem assemblies are also prone to binding after a few launches. If the fill stem binds it will not slide out of the kline valve and the O2 will toast your fill stem and injector bell. To remedy this take the brass bushing out of the fill stem assembly. This will allow the fill stem to drop freely and not bind. 8 Jul 2002 Postage rates increased due to USPS increase that took place 1 Jul 2002. 29 Jun 2002 HARA had a great launch today with 6 Hypertek flights ranging from an I205 to L550. All the flights were awesome! The I205 was the first 300cc flight at the field and it sure kicks butt for a little engine! See launch data for details. 21 Jun 2002 Paul Holmes sent me some launch data on his "Baby Huey"! Baby Huey is 15' 5" long, 10" diameter and weighs in at 80 pounds. He used the Hypertek M1040 as the main engine with two K550s starting inflight and attained an altitude of 6000'. 19 Jun 2002 Jeff Patterson TRA #7559 will be flying "RDS NorthStar": 126" long and 5.5" dia with a liftoff weigh of 40 pounds (3500cc 98mm motor) for his level 3 Cert at LDRS!!! 15 Jun 2002 Gary Staheli certified Level 2 with Hypertek, 6-15-02. The rocket is a PML Aurora, 4" diameter, 72" long, weight 95oz. (without motor system), 54" chute, 440ss-J250 with a .125 orifice, and Altitude 2500 feet. The electronics were dual Oslsen's. Perfect flight, the second flight was also perfect except for the tree gods have the rocket, it looks like its 75 ft. plus up there. 14 Jun 2002 Kevin Trojanowski will be going for his Level III flying "Lusty Cornmaiden" at LDRS! 7 Jun 2002 Nicholas Stich TRA# 8185 will be flying "HyperBaric Express": 9' long and 7.5" dia with a liftoff weigh of 57.4 pounds (4630cc 98mm motor)! 4 Jun 2002 Chris Pearson plans on certifying Level 3 on the 13th of July! We still have some opennings at LDRS for Hypertek certification flights! You cannot beat the price - N2O cost only!!! 26 May 2002 Yesterday I launched a modified Stretch PML Pterodactyl on a J330 and reached an altitude of 917 ft AGL. The rocket weighed in at 23 pounds without N2O. The crowd loved the resonating sound of the J330 as it lifted the 7.5" diameter beast off the pad! If I am lucky enough to find someone who took a picture I will post it later. 29 April 2002 CTI will be coming out with a new thicker L fuel grain. This will allow growth for the Hypertek line of motors and also allow a greater safety margin for those using Hypertek in colder climates. 25 April 2002 For those of you who need N2O here is a handy toll free number to find the nearest N2O supplier: 1-800-99REFIL 20 April 2002 Sorry my web page was down for the last month and I am now using a G4 Mac with GoLive vs FrontPage. Here are some of the awesome rocket launches that have occured recently: UAH launched their NASA Student Launch Initiative rocket on April 6th at the Army's Redstone Arsenal, AL on Test Range #1. UAH had onboard video and GPS downlink which gave spectacular video and also helped in locating the rocket. The students said that they got a "huge adrenalin rush" from the launch and "the ground actually shook when it was taking off!". UAH modified a 30' aluminum light pole for their launch rail. They did an awesome job on the whole project! Go to the UAH web site at http://www.eng.uah.edu/~sli click on Archives John Storey modified and built a glassed Rocket R&D Corporal rocket called Copora"L" Punishment. He launched it on a L355 (1685cc-75mm motor system with a .125 orifice and HyEFX L grain) and it reached 9,229 feet! 8 March 2002 Andy Woerner and Tom Baiga used a Hypertek 4630cc-98mm motor system with the M HyEFX grain (M1010) and sent "obNOXious" to 16,074'! Go to the "Launch Data" page for more info. 3 March 2002 Tom Baiga may have set yet another altitude record with Hypertek! His "Aftershock", now 4" longer after a slight mishap on a previous launch, reached 8465' using a J317 835cc-54mm motor! Check out the "Launch Data" page for more info. 26 February 2002 HyperTEK & Star Rocketry will be sponsoring a contest during LDRS 21, from July 11-14. A HyperTEK hybrid motor system complete with fuel grains will be awarded for the rocket that gets closest to 5000' without going over, using a HyperTEK motor system. To qualify, stop by Star Rocketry & HyperTEK in vendor position #2 and register your flight. If you can think of any other LDRS contest ideas for Hypertek please drop me an email - valento@earthlink.net 21 February 2002 Good news! I just received my invoice from my Feb shipment and I was not charged the new prices. I will lower my prices back until my current inventory is depleted and then I will have to mark them back up when I get charged more for my next shipment. Expect by the middle of March that prices will be going up for those motors using the J injector bells - 300cc, 440cc & 835cc. 18 February 2002 I have found a source for N2O & O2 tanks who will sell to individuals. 20# Nitrous Tank with siphon and 660 or 326 fitting & 20 cubic foot O2 tanks available from J & M Cylinder Gases, Inc. Call 256-355-2426 and ask for Joe and tell him that Oscar referred you to him. Price is $117 for aluminum and $97 for steel N20 tank package and $58 for O2 tank in steel only (does not include shipping). Also if you plan on attending LDRS and would like to certify Levels I, II or III click HERE for more info! 9 February 2002 Martin Dorociak flew two flights today with his retrofitted old style 81mm 835cc motor with the Stainless Steel injector bell. Also now have a picture of the 300cc motor system! 4 February 2002 Tom Baiga may have just set the new 4.0 Hybrid Open Class Record with an altitude of 10,127' with his Aftershock!!! Check out the Launch Data section! 21 December 2001 I have posted a technique for adjusting the new drop fill stem assemblies under the "Tech Notes" section. Hope this helps you out. If you have a better technique that you have come up with please share it with us. |
